In his letter to the President, Mr. Moyane stated that the reason for his resignation is purely personal constraints, which led to his availability to the MDDA being less and less since middle of 2010. He felt honored and privileged to serve on the MDDA Board for the past two years after his appointment by the President of the Republic in 2009.
The President, through a letter sent by the Minister in the Presidency Mr. Collins Chabane, in his acceptance of the resignation, unreservedly thanked Mr. Moyane for his dedication and invaluable contribution in promoting an enabling environment for media development and diversity in our country. Minister Chabane further wished him success in his future endeavors.
Speaking on behalf of the Agency, its Chief Executive Lumko Mtimde joined the President and thanked Mr. Moyane for his sterling work, leadership and guidance in the governance of the Agency as it successfully implemented its mandate enshrined in the MDDA Act. The MDDA wish him all the best for the future. Mtimde said he has notified the National Association of Broadcasters of the developments and the NAB will accordingly recommend a person/s to the President, who will, in terms of Section 4 (1) (c) of the MDDA Act appoint someone to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term of office in terms of Section 7 (2) of the Act.
