Deadline for PRISA PRISM awards this Friday

“The PR industry is not sitting on its hands anymore.” So says PRCC chair Bridget von Holdt, comparing the significant number of PRISM entries received to that of previous years. The deadline for the individual award entries is this Friday, 1 February 2008, and von Holdt expects that the final tally may be as much as 30% increase in entries.

“As in previous years, the categories are in line with the IPRA Golden Awards,” says von Holdt , “and we have for the first time included individual categories.”

Entries have been received from small, medium and large agencies, as well as from corporate practitioners across a variety of categories from PR On A Shoestring, Corporate Communication, Media Relations and Consumer PR, among others. Individual categories include Most Creative, Best PR Educator and Best Up and Coming PR Professional.

This year's panel of 12 judges comprise a stellar cast of media professionals, industry experts and international thought leaders. Among them are 702 host David O'Sullivan, Mercury Media's Morne Ebersohn, Nixon Kariithi (Wits) and international judge Colin Farrington (CIPR).

The PRISM Awards, now in its eleventh year, recognises excellence within the PR and communication industry. “The advertising industry has the Loeries,” says von Holdt, “and the PR industry celebrates its peers with the PRISM Awards.”

The PRISM Award ceremony takes place at Vodaworld on 26 March. Sponsors of this year's event include FX Productions, Vodaworld Events and Monitoring SA
