The magazine, dedicated to driving tourism development throughout the Buffalo City and Amathole regions of the Eastern Cape is produced by Intengu Publishing, the magazine division of Eastern Cape media house, Intengu Communications, in partnership with both Buffalo City Metro Municipality and the Amathole District Municipality.

"To drive tourism effectively in our region, we need strong public/private partnerships," publisher and Intengu managing partner Celia Theart said. "We are thrilled to be partnering with both municipalities in driving this important initiative and to produce a publication that showcases all that our region has to offer tourists."

Importance of active role players

This is echoed by Theart's business partner, Alderman Sakkie Somyo, who stressed the importance of all role-players to be active in driving tourism and tourism development throughout the region.

"Tourism is everyone's business," Somyo told guests at the launch party. "Certainly it is the business of the product owners - from the hoteliers and the restaurant owners to the crafters and the young entrepreneurs whose livelihoods are dependent on seasonal incomes. All of us who live or work in this region benefit in one way or another from an increase in tourism spend and so all of us share in the responsibility to help our city put her best foot forward."

The magazine, which is being published quarterly, will be distributed throughout the eastern half of the Eastern Cape and at selected offset points further afield. It is also available online at www.buffalocity360.co.za or on the Facebook page.
