Anthony Doman and Neil Piper appointed to Popular Mechanics team

A further two people have been appointed to the team of Popular Mechanics, the top-selling US magazine to be published locally from August. They are Anthony Doman, who is associate editor, and Neil Piper, the national business manager. They join Alan Duggan, who took up the position of editor of the new publication at the beginning of May.

Doman was associate editor of CAR, a sister title in the Ramsay, Son & Parker stable. Prior to that he was with the Cape Argus, where he was motoring editor and deputy news editor, and the Cape Herald, where he served as deputy chief sub.

Neil Piper was previously the advertising manager: coastal for CAR magazine. He has relocated to Johannesburg to head up the adsales team for the new publication.

Duggan has a 25-year history as a newspaper journalist, book editor and foreign correspondent. He has a keen interest in science and technology and was a motoring editor for print and electronic media for many years.

Popular Mechanics addresses a wide range of technological subjects and serves as a hands-on resource for readers' passion to know how and why things work. The first South African edition will be available on the newsstands on 24 July.
