Smooth sailing as Miller rocks the boat

Sponsors, entertainers and most importantly passengers considered the Miller Rock the Boat cruise aboard the Sinfonia from 4-7 December 2009 a great success as they released their mojo.

Miller brand manager, Megan Macnab said, “The brand is all about allowing consumers the space to release their mojo - offering them a reprieve from day-to-day drudgery and giving them license to express themselves. They spent four days and three nights dancing and enjoying themselves with South Africa's best music talent, the kind of an event that is an ultimate expression of the brand.

“I was very satisfied with the event, considering the bad weather and logistics required to pull off an event like this. This was the first year we have done an event of this scale and we will take the lessons forward to ensure each year is better and better.” The tickets had sold out within two days of launching.

Nicci Brown of DStv, the media sponsor, felt that the fact that the boat was a place where such a huge cross- section of young South Africans had the very best party together was stunning.

Other sponsors have only praise for the smooth running of this event, thanks to the team at Launch Factory.

    An ‘incredible' event

Entertainers onboard included South Africa's best DJs - Fresh, Euphonic, Milkshake, Erica Elle and Shaun Duvet. There was a very special moment on deck when Fresh, Euphonic and Milkshake jammed for an ecstatic crowd. Grant Nash, one of the MCs for the trip said, “There was never a dull moment. The session on the Sunday afternoon was the best session I have ever heard.”

Kahn of the Parletones added, “I came onboard not just as a musician but also a patron - from the music to the comedy club it was great, the trip was awesome and we had a great time. There was entertainment from the first moment.”

“It was one of the most incredible and well organized events I have ever been involved in. Everything ran amazingly well, the entertainment were on top form. The passengers had an awesome time and I cannot wait to do it again,” commented Shaun Duvet.

Looking at the Facebook page all aboard had a wonderful time and seemed to be very keen to be back again next year. Spero Patricios, MD of Launch Factory the owners of this event stated there would definitely be a similar cruise in 2010.
