Leading the pack with 10 nominations in the drama series category is SABC2's "Erfsondes". Another SABC2 drama series that features prominently in the drama series category is "90 Plein Street" with seven nominations.
Three of SABC1's drama series have been nominated: "Soul City" (five nominations), "Zone 14" also received five nominations and "Skeem Saam" one nomination.
The Best TV Soap is the only category to be decided on by the public. SABC's "Generations" (SABC1), "7de Laan" (SABC2), "Muvhango" (SABC2) and "Isidingo" (SABC3) have all been nominated.
The SAFTAS honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality and excellence of South African film and television talent and encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent in the industry. The winners will be presented with the Golden Horn, the official SAFTA Trophy. The SAFTAS will take place 15-16 March. SABC3 will screen the awards ceremony live on 16 March, including highlight packages from the ceremony on the 15 March.
