Local viewing of top Oscar contenders

Cinema Nouveau screened by Jameson is joining the glamour and excitement of the Academy Awards, generally known as the Oscars, by offering South Africans an exclusive opportunity to view all the top Oscar-nominated films at the Oscar Film Festival from this Friday, 23 February 2007.

Catch the Oscars Film Festival at Cinema Nouveau screened by Jameson in Rosebank (Johannesburg), Cavendish (Cape Town), Brooklyn (Pretoria) and Gateway (Durban). The festival will run until 27 February and films are screened at 11.30am, 2.15pm, 5pm and 8.15pm daily.

Highlights include previews of director Sofia Coppola’s controversial take on the life of French royal Marie Antoinette (starring Kirsten Dunst) and Clint Eastwood’s WWII drama Flags of Our Fathers (nominated for Best Picture and Best Director).

Other high profile directors whose films are featured in the festival include Robert De Niro (The Good Shepherd) and Brian De Palma (Black Dahlia). Acting talents on the festival include Scarlett Johansson (Black Dahlia), Julianne Moore (Children of Men), Dame Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett (Notes on a Scandal), Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie (both featured in The Good Shepherd).
